How to stop spam and newsletter emails
"Spam" you signed up for — newsletters, promos, notifications — won't stop until you unsubscribe at the source. Here's how to end it for good, in bulk.
Step by step
- Install Mailbox Magic (free) and open your inbox.
- Scan to see every sender grouped — the newsletters flooding you become obvious.
- Unsubscribe from each unwanted sender in bulk (real unsubscribe, not just filtering).
- For senders that ignore unsubscribe requests or have no unsubscribe, use Block.
- Bulk-delete or archive the backlog so your inbox starts fresh.
Unsubscribe vs. block vs. filter
Unsubscribe tells the sender to stop — best for legitimate lists. Block diverts future mail — best for senders that won't stop. Filters just hide mail; it's still arriving. For a truly quieter inbox, unsubscribe first and block the stragglers.
What about real spam?
For unsolicited spam from unknown senders, mark it as spam in your provider and Block it — don't click unsubscribe links in genuinely malicious mail, as that can confirm your address is active.
