How to stop spam and newsletter emails

"Spam" you signed up for — newsletters, promos, notifications — won't stop until you unsubscribe at the source. Here's how to end it for good, in bulk.

Step by step

  1. Install Mailbox Magic (free) and open your inbox.
  2. Scan to see every sender grouped — the newsletters flooding you become obvious.
  3. Unsubscribe from each unwanted sender in bulk (real unsubscribe, not just filtering).
  4. For senders that ignore unsubscribe requests or have no unsubscribe, use Block.
  5. Bulk-delete or archive the backlog so your inbox starts fresh.

Unsubscribe vs. block vs. filter

Unsubscribe tells the sender to stop — best for legitimate lists. Block diverts future mail — best for senders that won't stop. Filters just hide mail; it's still arriving. For a truly quieter inbox, unsubscribe first and block the stragglers.

What about real spam?

For unsolicited spam from unknown senders, mark it as spam in your provider and Block it — don't click unsubscribe links in genuinely malicious mail, as that can confirm your address is active.
